Quick and Tasty Mushroom Side Recipe

This rainy morning I went to the Farmer's Market in Alemany Blvd., San Francisco.  There are several Farmer's Market's in the city, all on different days.  The Alemany Farmer's Market is every Saturday, and the Civic Center Farmer's Market is every Wednesday,  They have tons of fresh food, everything from  honeycombs to hot steamie tamales.  They also have fresh flowers, and potted plants.  The Alemany Farmer's Market is a good place to find delicious foods.

While there, I found these interesting looking mushrooms.  These are Nameko mushrooms, they feel sticky to the touch have a beautiful color, and have a slippery surface texture once cooked.  Here is an easy and tasty recipe that you can try with your Nameko mushrooms.

Ingredients:

Nameko mushrooms, 1 basket
1 handful of Spinach
1 clove minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon butter
2 tablespoon olive oil
diced white onion
diced shallots
sprig rosemary
sea salt to taste
black pepper to taste

       Directions:
  1. Warm olive oil in a skillet.
  2. Add onions, shallots, garlic, and saute until tender.
  3. Add mushrooms, spinach, rosemary, butter, salt and pepper.
Takes about 5 minutes to cook.

Recommendations:
  • use as a meat substitute
  • for a stir fry
  • would go perfectly with clams or lobster
  • enjoy with your favorite white wine

side note: It is suggested that you cook your mushrooms before eating them.

Civic Center Farmer's Market is on  Market Street (between 8th St & Grove St)
Alemany's Farmer's Market is on 100 Alemany Blvd.
Arrive early for the best selection.
